With the start of the New Year, Threshold Brewing & Blending has hit the ground running! We’re in the process of scouting out the perfect location that will allow us to brew, grow our blending program, and bring the best beer to the most people. The neighborhoods of East Glisan, Montavilla, North Tabor and Foster/Powell are all areas of interest. Perhaps the greatest step forward this month, though, was the completion of the first draft of our business plan. After months of research, discussion and planning, it’s been great to get everything on paper and see a clear path to a successful brewing operation.
We’ve determined that Threshold Brewing & Blending will focus on three core lines of beer: creative, traditional and experimental.
Creativity is paramount to keeping up with the fast-evolving trends of Portland’s brewing scene. Our fresh and hoppy beers will extend beyond traditional pale ales and IPAs to incorporate novel ingredients and modern, sometimes experimental, techniques to push flavor and aroma further.
We’ll embrace traditional elements of brewing processes when it comes to our barrel-aged beers. The tried-and-true methods of barrel aging in liquor and wine barrels will lend themselves to our specialty beers, brewed with our own personal twist. You can expect some expertly brewed and blended barrel-aged sour beers as well!
And to keep things interesting, both to us as brewers and to our beloved consumers, we’ll have fun experimenting with the exceedingly drinkable and uniquely flavored wild (and sometimes sour) beers of a vaguely “farmhouse” variety.
The next couple of months will include finalizing our business plan, identifying a location, engaging with our local community and working out a realistic schedule. We want to bring Threshold Brewing & Blending to our thirsty public as soon as possible and are aiming for an opening date in early summer 2018. One thing we’re sure of: it will be worth the wait!
Thank you for supporting Threshold during these early days. We’re excited for what the next few months will bring and will continue to loop you in on our progress.
